It is difficult to answer without knowing more about these ecommerce sites. If they are using automated conveyor systems, the equipment will be expensive and space requirements will increase. And if they use manual labor, then you need a lot of space because the stacking arrangement has to give good visibility and access around the pallets. Also, given India’s heat and humidity during certain months of the year, more air conditioning means even greater power requirements and increased costs
My guess is that their current warehouses were built as speculative buildings (similar to large store or strip mall developments where each tenant provides financing), but it has not worked out as planned because demand was not
